Joining RSS
RSS is a big social and cultural group in India. It works for society and teaches discipline. Mohan’s father was in RSS, so Mohan knew about RSS from childhood. In 1975, India had an Emergency. Many leaders went underground. Mohan Bhagwat also worked secretly during this time. He became a full-time worker of RSS, called Pracharak, in 1975.
Rise in RSS
After the Emergency, Mohan Bhagwat worked hard for RSS. In 1977, he became Pracharak of Akola, Maharashtra. He got more responsibility with time. From 1991 to 1999, he was the national in-charge of physical training (Sharirik Pramukh). After that, he was in-charge of all full-time workers in India (Pracharak Pramukh).
In 2000, he became General Secretary (Sarkaryavah) of RSS. This is a very important post. He worked as General Secretary for nine years.
