Starting Cricket Career

Abishek started playing cricket at the junior level for Bengal. He did well in the 2022 Cooch Behar Trophy. But he did not perform well in the Challenger Trophy. Because of this, he was not picked for the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies. But when some players got COVID, he was called as a backup and joined the team in the middle of the tournament.

First-Class Debut

After coming back from the Under-19 World Cup, Abishek got a big chance. He was selected for the senior Bengal team. He made his first-class debut against Baroda in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy on February 17, 2022. In his first match, he scored a half-century (53 runs) in the second innings. This helped Bengal chase a big target.

In his first Ranji Trophy season, Abishek played five matches. He scored 303 runs with three half-centuries. His average was 33.66. In the next season, he scored 377 runs in seven matches. He also hit his first century in first-class cricket.
